Hefty fines for e-cigar trading

Individuals or businesses found to be trading or in possession of e-cigarettes will face hefty fines.

Health Minister Elias Kapavore who announced the ban on Tuesday, says following publication of the ban in the gazettal notice - it will take seven days to take effect.

He says, under the Tobacco Control Act 2016, fines range from 10 thousand kina to 100 thousand kina.

PNG Customs will now work on getting E-cigarettes on the list of prohibited items.

A list of retailers of this banned item will also be monitored for compliance.
