Digine high school unveils new library and resource centre

Digine high school proudly opened its new library and resource centre over the weekend, marking a significant milestone in the school’s development and the educational growth of the Gumine district.
This landmark project was made possible through the support of the Kama Scholars Foundation in partnership with the Department of National Planning and Monitoring.
The facility aims to address the chronic lack of access to quality learning environments in rural areas of Papua New Guinea.
Dr. Bal Kama, director of the Kama Scholars Foundation, said the initiative reflects the Foundation’s commitment to uplifting rural communities through education and health services.
"The Kama Scholars Foundation was established to empower the rural communities by supporting the provision of health and education services,” he said.
“Since the establishment of Foundation in 2013, we provided over hundreds of scholarships to children, supported schools with learning facilities, and organized medical programs with overseas medical interns.”
Established in 2013, the Kama Scholars Foundation has delivered hundreds of scholarships, supported schools with learning materials, and facilitated medical outreach programs across the country.
Digine High School Principal, Ms. Anna Joe, thanked the Foundation for its generous contribution, stating that the library will be a beacon of hope and knowledge for our students and the entire community.
Also present at the opening was Mr. Hendy Ninkama, Principal Advisor of Planning and Evaluation with the Simbu Provincial Government. He praised the project and pledged continued support on behalf of Governor Noah Kool.
The new library and resource centre is expected to serve not only the students of Digine High School but also surrounding schools and the broader Gumine community.
