Yesterday marked a significant milestone for the Manus Training Centre [MTC] as the institution officially received a new computer lab, ablution block, and carpentry tools and equipment from the Australian Pacific Training Coalition [APTC].

The handover ceremony, attended by students and dignitaries, celebrated the remarkable transformation of the MTC, a pillar of education on Manus Island since the 1960s.

The APTC, in partnership with the Australian Government, has been a steadfast supporter of the MTC since 2019.

APTC Executive Country Director, Ms Renee Archer, expressed her pride in the growth and strength that has emerged from this partnership.

“It is truly inspiring to witness the positive impact of our collaboration,” said Ms Archer.

“This investment in infrastructure and resources will empower the MTC to continue providing vital education and skills training for the people of Manus Island.”

Echoing Ms Archer’s sentiments, Acting Principal of the MTC, Mrs Jacinta Mapo, highlighted the remarkable improvements witnessed at the institution since 2020.

“The modern classrooms, offices, and computer lab provide a conducive and stimulating environment for our students, fostering a love of learning and a commitment to success,” said Mrs Mapo.

Mrs Mapo stressed that the APTC's support extends beyond training, emphasizing the positive impact on the overall learning experience.

“The improvements have boosted morale and created a sense of pride among our students and staff,” she said.

The new additions to the MTC campus are more than just structures; they represent the institution's commitment to excellence and dedication to success.

In her closing remarks, Mrs Mapo expressed sincere gratitude to the APTC and the Australian Government for their unwavering support over the years.
