Papua New Guinea Baseball Softball Confederate has named an extended squad for the women’s national team as preparations gain momentum for the 2025 Mini Pacific Games in Palau.

Games Development Coordinator Constantine Bais said the list was compiled following the 45th National Championship in East New Britain in September.

“Our list was compiled after the championships based on statistics collected throughout the tournament. They are expected to go through high-performance training starting next Tuesday,” Bais said.

“All selected players have been contacted and notified on arrangements and training schedules.”

He said from the 30-man squad, only six veterans were named from the last national team that won a gold medal for PNG during the 2015 Pacific Games hosted in Port Moresby.

The players include Florence Daple, Nadia Bais Kua, Lisa Polum, Addie Tamti, Juliet Seri, and Emma Makis.

Bais said as training starts, they will later advise on a few international matches before the final squad of 15 is announced before the official games in Palau.

Meanwhile, the current extended squad is from several softball associations including the Port Moresby Womens Softball Association, Gazelle, Rabaul and Kokopo in East New Britain as well as Buluminski from New Ireland and one from the Australian Capital Territory Softball Association.
