The Western Highlands Provincial Government has assisted the people of Sinsibai Sacred Heart Catholic Parish, with K100,000 towards the construction of a new church building.

The parish is part of the Catholic Archdiocese of Mt Hagen.

Western Highlands Governor Wai Rapa when presenting the financial support at Sinsibai, in Tambul-Nebilyer District said, “We are looking forward to supporting churches, schools, business and sports in the province. We want our people to commit to these and make our province better.”

Allan Sumb, a lecturer at Divine Word University [DWU] and the chairman of the parish fundraising committee said, volunteering his time to help with fundraising efforts as part of DWU's commitment to teaching, learning, research, and community service.

"Since Sinsibai is a new parish, it lacks essential infrastructure; however, the parishioners have already built a priest’s house, a pastoral center, and are now working on the church building.”

Mr. Sumb added that the foundation for the new church was completed last month, and the contractor is currently in the process of sourcing iron beams for the structure and K100,000.00 provided by the governor will go towards purchasing these essential materials.

Meanwhile, during the church funding presentation, Governor Rapa also announced further financial commitments to support schools, a health center, and road infrastructure in the area.
