The national government has allocated K10million for the city safe project in the National Capital District [NCD].

This announcement was made by Prime Minister James Marape on his arrival from the US where he attended the 79th UN General Assembly in New York.

The CCTV camera will be installed in main centres of the city including Downtown, 4mile, Waigani and other central locations.

"Although there are hiccups this project is key in ensuring the city is safe for all.

"This is part of our 2025 preparations for the 50th anniversary program. There were some investments on CCTV during the 2018 APEC, but it was unsuccessful, now we're trying to revive," Mr Marape said.

He added that more funding will be made available to implement this project to ensure CCTV cameras are installed in all parts of the city.

He believes this will help policing and monitor residents.

Mr Marape made this statement after considering increased law and order issues escalating in all corners of the city.

Meanwhile, with the rise in violence and lawlessness in the country, Prime Minister James Marape says his Government will not rest to bring back order.
