PAPUA New Guinea Barramundis are off to a great start in the 2024-2026 CWC Challenge League in Kenya.
Barras [83/4] who defeated Denmark [80] by six wickets won the toss and elected to bowl in the One Day International yesterday.
In the first inning, Denmark had a slow start with their opening batters and picked pace halfway through the batsmen lineup.
Denmark's top three batters were Abdul Hashmi [21 runs off 34 balls], Saif Ahmad [15 off 19] and Surya Anand [15 off 33].
Denmark could not contain the powerful bowling from the PNG side and went all out after the 26th over. Barras bowler Kabua Morea had a field day taking out five wickets [5/29] against the Danish Cricket team.
Fellow teammates Alei Nao [4/20] and Michael Charlie [1/8] also contributed to the bowling department.
Morea was named player of the fixture match.
Meanwhile, the Taitenda Taibu-coached Barras used the first 13 overs in the second inning to claim their first win in this Challenger.
Batters Hiri Hiri [28 not out], Sese Bau [18 off 21], and Charles Amini [12 off 17] were the top batters.
Denmark's Saif Ahmad took out two wickets [2/23] while Surya Anand [1/15] and Jonas Henriksen [1/19] however were not enough to contain PNG from scoring runs.
The PNG Mens National Cricket team is moving to regain its ODI status.
They are expected to play Jersey tomorrow [Saturday] afternoon, PNG local time.
