Sogeri becomes the third SME Market for Hiri Koiari District

The Hiri Koiari District is empowering its locals through Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) initiatives, starting from Edai Town, which is located 20km outside Port Moresby.
After Edai Town, the Hiri Koiari District SME Market Organizing Committee hosted the second SME market at Tubuserea village along the Magi Highway.
Over the weekend, the organizing committee went up to the mountains of Koiari in Sogeri to host the third SME market for two days.
The Hiri Koiari District Development Authority (DDA) is not backing down in times of hardship; it is keen on creating opportunities for its people.
SME initiatives are an example of ways to encourage people to produce and sell their goods at affordable prices.
With two successful markets already hosted this year at Edai Town and Tubusereia village, the Sogeri market is expected to be another success, setting a positive benchmark for the district.

Chairman of the Hiri Koiari SME Market organizing committee, Sir Moi Avei thanked the DDA for initiating this event which is creating an opportunity for its people to showcase their talent and products.
Sir Moi said, “we are here because of the initiative of the member for Hiri Koiari, Keith Iduhu. The member is telling the four corners of Hiri Koiari, when times are hard, Hiri Koiari cannot sit back, we must stand up to create opportunities for ourselves. Today we can see that we can do it at Sogeri.”
The weekend markets are being held in preparation and anticipation of the upcoming Hiri Koiari Cuture and Trade Festival in September.
Hundreds of local SMEs in the District and Central Province including corporate companies gathered at Sogeri to showcase their products.
The shows are also hosted to unite the people of Hiri Koiari and Central Province. The two-day show ended today.
