A confirmed date and venue for the biannual mini Olympics of Papua New Guinea is still hanging with a question mark.

Five years has lapsed since the Southern Highlands Province was given the hosting rights for the 8th edition of the PNG Games.

After failing to host the Games in 2019, the PNG Games Council opted for Port Moresby to bring the integrity of the games back this month.

But an announcement by Prime Minister James Marape for the games to be brought back to the Southern Highlands last month, has now thrown the dates into question.

Sources reveal the date of the games will be known as soon as the PNG Games Council meeting that is currently underway in Port Moresby concludes.

In the special meeting, the only announcement made so far is for East Sepik Province to host the 9th PNG Games in 2028

The last PNG Games was played in West New Britain in 2017.
