Milne Bay’s NGI community petitions provincial government

The New Guinea Island's [NGI] community in Milne Bay Province has petitioned the Milne Bay Provincial Government over the lack of implementation and enforcement of its rules and regulations under the Small Craft Act 2011.
In a tribute on Sunday to farewell victims of the recent boating tragedies in Milne Bay and East New Britain, NGI community representative, Samson Kakai, presented the petition to the Milne Bay Provincial Government.
The petition calls for accountability and support in boating tragedies and stricter implementation and enforcement of some of the rules and regulations of the Small Craft Act 2011.
"Throughout all the maritime provinces, there is no stricter implementation of the rules and regulations so that we can continue to save lives at sea", Kakai said.
Kakai says they are appealing to the government to seriously look into implementing and enforcing the rules and regulations as stipulated in the Small Craft Act 2011 to protect the lives of Papua New Guineans at sea.
