TRL finals heat up as semi-final blockbusters decided

The Tauruba Rugby League Association is bracing for an explosive weekend of action as the 2026 semi-finals heat up, with spots in the prestigious Grand Final on the line across both A-Grade and B-Grade divisions.

In the premier A-Grade clash, the Moragini Diggers take on the Dogolo United Raiders in what promises to be a classic Saturday showdown of power versus speed.

The Raiders will rely on their massive forward pack, spearheaded by powerhouses Bruno Raga, Manoah Iamo, Nigel Gologa, and Tau Gulaga, to dominate the middle and lay the foundation for victory.

However, the Diggers possess plenty of firepower of their own. Moragini will look to exploit the Raiders with their agile backline, anchored by rising stars Brian Gulaga, Naukila Gulaga, and Solomon Kwalimu. Playmaker Samuel Raga will hold the key for the Diggers as he looks to steer his side through the heavy Raiders defense.

The winner of the blockbusting match will advance to the 2026 big dance to face the waiting Lamana Eels, who earned direct entry into the decider.

Meanwhile, the B-Grade semi-final features a fiery clash between the Gubuli Sharks and defending premiers, the Lamana Eels.

The Sharks, who have enjoyed a stellar campaign all season, get a second bite at the cherry. Gubuli will look to young guns Buga Solomon, Garo Joseph, and Ryan Suli to lead the charge and cause an upset.

Standing in their way are the battle-hardened Eels, who are chasing back-to-back titles. Lamana boasts a formidable lineup featuring in-form speedster Allan Solomon, enforcer Sauk Andrew, and the experienced Henry brothers, Junior and Rodney, alongside tireless forward Ovio.

Winner of the match will meet Moragini Diggers in the title decider next week.

League executives have called on local rugby league fans to flock to the venue in numbers to witness the high-stakes battle of the gladiators.
