Wabag rugby league secures new sponsor
The Wabag Rugby Football League [WRFL] has secured a new sponsor for this season, with the competition officially named the Lyndsay Tei Abal Cup 2026.
Local businessman Lyndsay Abal, son of former Wabag Open MP Sam Abal and grandson of the late Sir Tei Abal, is supporting the league to create opportunities for young people through rugby league.
WRFL President Kepakan Pakau has welcomed the sponsorship and thanked Mr Abal for his commitment to supporting the league and youth development.
The WRFL also acknowledged previous sponsors, Cost Guide PNG Ltd and Andiuk Arete Foundation, for their contributions in previous seasons.
The Lyndsay Tei Abal Cup 2026 carries the message: 'Supporting Rugby League. Empowering Youth. Building Community'.
