The Papua New Guinea Adventist Tertiary Students Association [PNGATSA] has officially launched its 21st Biennial Convention in Wewak, East Sepik Province.
The event was launched recently by students and leaders from the Sepik SDA Mission.
Organisers say the launch is aimed at creating more awareness about the convention and attracting support from partners and sponsors.
Unlike previous conventions, this year’s event will also focus on development projects.
Convenor and East Sepik Provincial Health Authority Director Corporate Services, Dipson Yehisembi, said plans are underway to build a new computer laboratory for Brandi Secondary School, which will host the convention.
“This project is actually the decision of National PNGATSA Convention Committee….Such project will impact the generation of now and the generations to come and especially those coming into study at Brandi,” he said.
Department of Works and Highways Secretary Gibson Holemba, who was the keynote speaker, also highlighted the importance of the convention.

“This is the launching of a movement that will make an impact in a society crippled with growing social issues. Jesus is coming soon and we must not stop sharing this message even in what we do,” Mr Holemba said.
Among those who attended the launch were East Sepik Deputy Provincial Administrator for Social Services Emmanuel Tomarum, Governor’s Office representative Pastor Abraham Kumbia, PNGATSA Spiritual Leader Pastor Gideon Kend, and PNGATSA Vice President Terrence Temai.
The 21st PNGATSA Biennial Convention will be held from December 6th to 19th, 2026.
The theme for the convention is “Rising Higher, Reaching Farther, Impacting Forever.”
