Warriors surge into Nelson Saroa 9s cup playoffs
The Nelson Saroa 9s tournament in Rigo, Central, has reached a fever pitch as 12 teams emerge from a grueling two-day opening round to battle for the major prize.
With a K10,000 champion’s purse on the line, the competition in Gabone has winnowed the field down to the heavy hitters. Tournament favorites Lamanagolo Warriors and Gereka Sharks have all lived up to their billing, securing their spots in the high-stakes Cup challenge.
The Lamana Warriors have been the clinical standout of the tournament so far. Dominating Pool E with a perfect three-from-three record, the Tauraba-based side dispatched the Bogama Bay Eagles [19-12], the Sirogere DCN Bunnies [19-4], and the Hula Hula Broskeys [10-6] to claim the top seed.
The Warriors maintained their momentum in today’s quarterfinals, eliminating the Iola Doggies to punch their ticket to the next stage. They now sit on standby, awaiting results from the remaining fixtures as they look toward a potential Cup victory tomorrow.
The finals are currently underway and are scheduled to conclude by the end of the week.
