Milne Bay visit sparks renewed push for nurses’ insurance cover
Executives of the PNG Nurses Association were in Milne Bay recently, advocating for nurses’ insurance cover and putting into practice what this means.
The trip was specifically to bid farewell to the Assocaition’s Milne Bay Branch President who had sadly passed on a week ago.
It was a somber gathering, but nonetheless, one to educate members in Milne Bay on the association’s continued efforts to serve their best interests.

Before visiting their fallen colleague’s hauskrai though, they held a session with association members at the Alotau Provincial Hospital.

The message was clear, Kebai encouraged with the PNG Nurses Association insurance cover, they have peace of that they are entitled to things like funeral expenses not just for members but their spouses and even parents too.

The Association and its members visited the hauskrai of their colleague, the late Jimmy Evans, who had led a fiery front for PNGNA out of Alotau, saddened by his passing but happy to support his family and grant him a fitting send off.

A sad moment but an ideal one used to encourage nurses still working to know they have these services available to them.
While in Alotau, Kebai and Team also did awareness on policy and benefits of this Insurance Cover, and that of the recently launched Nurses Savings & Loans Society.
