MSG tournament payments to start this week
The Office of the Prime Minister says payments for the Melanesian Spearhead Group [MSG] Football Tournament are expected to begin later this week.
This follows concerns raised by teams, service providers and stakeholders about delays in allowances, prize money and other payments.
The Office clarified on Tuesday that funds for the MSG tournament have already been secured. It said the delay was caused by banking processes, administrative clearances and other procedures that must be completed before payments are released.
Deputy Chief of Staff Administration, Henry Leia, said progress has been made in resolving the issue.
“The funds are available, and what remains are final administrative and banking procedures,” he said.
Mr Leia added that once the final clearances are completed, payouts will begin.
He said the Office is ensuring all claims are processed properly to maintain transparency and accountability.
The Office of the Prime Minister also thanked participating teams, service providers, and partners for their patience while it works its way towards settling all outstanding payments.
