The standout players for the Lakwaharu Cricket Club in the Port Moresby Cricket Competition for season 2025 received their awards in a ceremony held on Saturday at the Ikaiana oval in Tubusereia village.
For the Under 17 boys team, Vele David received the best batsman award, Paul Vasiri got best bowler and player of the season while Garminick Vasiri received the award for being the best fielder.
For the thirds team, Jackson Hera won the best batsman and player of the season, Andrew Bae took out the best bowler and Tauedea Tau was the best fielder and wicket keeper.
While thanking the players for their commitment and dedication in 2025, Lakwaharu Under 17 coach Gomea Lohia appealed to the leaders of Tubusereia to continue to support cricket as an avenue that helps youths in the community.
Team Manager of the Lakwaharu Cricket Club Vari Lahui recalled their outing in the 2025 POMCA season as a success, highlighting the minor premiership win by the thirds team as one of those many achievements in 2025.
On behalf of the sponsors XCMG, Public Relations Officer Ludwig Kusunan encouraged the Lakwaharu Cricket players to strive in the upcoming season and beyond.
"Just as powerful as our machines are, we are determined to succeed regardless and when you step out there on the field, please embody that character that you also represent one of our machines," Kusunan spoke metaphorically.
Also, in attendance to witness the awards presentation apart from the sponsors was NBC Managing Director Kora Nou, a big supporter for cricket in Tubusereia, Hiri LLG President Haoda Rogea and PNG Under 19 Garamuts coach Kila Pala.
Making a commitment on behalf of the Hiri Koiari MP, Rogea committed K5000 to support the Lakwaharu Cricket Club in 2026.
