Francise coaches in Daru to eye future stars for Digicel ExxonMobil Cup

PNG Rugby Football League officials and franchise coaches have arrived in Daru to scout talents from the inaugural Fly River Cup tournament, that will kick start on Wednesday (today)

The three-days event at the Daru Main Sports Oval will feature eight teams from Western Province's four districts, showcasing raw rugby league talent.

PNGRFL Southern Confederate Tony Waliya told NBC Online that the Fly River Cup is a big chance for young rugby league players in Western Province to show off their skills and potentially kickstart a career in the sport.

He says the ExxonMobil Cup franchise coaches are looking for promising players to potentially join the 2026 Digicel Exxonmobile Cup season.

The tournament is expected to highlight emerging talent, providing young players with a valuable opportunity to pursue a career in sport.

He has confirmed that Hela Wigmen Head Coach Ian Iaro, Port Moresby Vipers Women's coach Godfrey Luke, Central Dabaris representative John Ambane are all here for the three days tournament to scout players.

Mr Waliya says he will step in as well on behalf of Gulf Isou and scout talents for the team.
