Madang taxi service provides assistance to police

The Madang Taxi Service Association has contributed a drum of fuel and K500 worth of mobile phone cards to support the special Christmas and New Year police operation, Sain Abe 3.

The donation, comprising the fuel drum and an envelope containing the phone cards, was presented to Acting Provincial Police Commander Inspector Patrick Wallis at the Madang Town police station yesterday.

Jeffery Wabut, owner of Sunset Fox Taxi Service and President of the Madang Taxi Service Association, along with other local taxi operators, attended the brief presentation.

While handing over the donation, Wabut said the association felt a responsibility to support the Sain Abe 3 Operation, even in a small way.

"We have purchased a full drum of fuel and K500 worth of Flex, Teli, and Voda cards to assist police communication during the operation," Wabut said.

"Although it is a small contribution, it is a gesture of our appreciation and respect for the police’s work in maintaining law and order in Madang Town and across the province this year. With Sain Abe 3 now underway, we hope to continue supporting the police, not only during this special operation but at all times."

Inspector Wallis received the donation with gratitude.

"On behalf of the Madang command, I sincerely thank you for acknowledging some of the challenges we face in policing and maintaining law and order," he said.

"As Acting PPC, I assure you that police will respond to any issues encountered during your operations. We appreciate the Association for its commitment to crime prevention, peace, and goodwill."

Inspector Wallis said maintaining law and order is not the responsibility of the police alone but requires the involvement of all sectors of the community. He praised the Madang Taxi Service Association’s initiative as a positive step towards supporting police operations.
