DWU Manus students deliver essential aid in Lorengau hospital outreach
The Divine Word University [DWU] Manus Students Association recently demonstrated their commitment to community service by undertaking a visit to the Lorengau Provincial Hospital.
The students successfully distributed essential toiletries and hygiene items to patients in wards two, three and four providing tangible support to those in need.
This valuable community outreach was executed by a dedicated team of 10 DWU students residing in the town area.
The association is committed to sustaining this noble initiative, which was first established in 2022.
Maino Kajoka, President of the DWU Manus Students Association, elaborated on the group’s strategic shift in their annual outreach activities.
“For the past years, our association’s focus has been on educational outreach, visiting provincial schools to donate reading materials and conduct awareness on the academic programs offered at DWU.
“However, after consultation, we made the conscious decision this year to prioritize the immediate welfare needs of patients at the Lorengau Provincial Hospital.” Kajoka said.
The DWU students concluded their visit by issuing a strong call to action to their peers.
They encouraged Manus students attending other tertiary institutions across the country to join the spirit of altruism by actively engaging in projects and initiatives aimed at giving back to their local communities in Manus, regardless of the scale of the contribution.
