PNG Air has increased its flights to Mendi as peace returns with the help of security forces in the Upper Highlands.

The airline started flying to Mendi last year and now operates two scheduled flights each week, with a possible third flight soon.

This increase is a good sign for rebuilding Southern Highlands and restoring Mendi’s past busy business life.

Flights stopped three years ago after an Air Niugini plane was burned during the 2022 election.

Special Operations Commander Anthony Wagambi Jnr assured that the airport and aircraft are protected so the people and businesses can rely on this service.

Security teams have been guarding the airport since PNG Air increased its flights last week.

Mendi has remained calm since security forces arrived for the Special Police Operation, and people are moving around normally.
