PNG Lewas return home

The PNG national women’s team, PNG Lewas, has returned home after taking part in the ICC Women’s Emerging Nations Trophy 2025 hosted in Thailand Bangkok from November 20th to 30th.

Cricket PNG commended the Lewas for their performance in the tournament which saw them finish their campaign with 4 wins in 7 matches.

Some of the highlights for the Lewas include their victories against Thailand and Netherlands with top batters in the campaign in the likes of captain Brenda Tau, Hollan Doriga and outstanding bowling from veteran Pauke Siaka and Henao Thomas.

Captain Branda Tau said the team played well and she is proud of how far the team has come but admitted that there is still room for improvement.

PNG won four (4) matches out of the seven [7] matches:
PNG Vs Thailand, match 5 – Friday 21st November, PNG Won by 8 runs, and the player of the match was Pauke Siaka
PNG Vs Netherlands, match 15 – Tuesday, 25th November, PNG won by 8 runs, and the player of the match was Henao Thomas
PNG Vs Namibia, match 24 – Friday, 28th November, PNG won by 1 run, and the player of the match was Pauke Siaka
PNG Vs Tanzania, Match 27 – Sunday, 30th November, PNG Won by 20 runs, with Henao Thomas as the player of the match
The Lewas are now in preparations and will travel later this month for practice matches in Australia, before leaving for Nepal for the Global Qualifiers in February.
