West Sepik mourns passing of Telefomin MP

West Sepik Provincial Government has joined the rest of Papua New Guinea in mourning the passing of the member for Telefomin and Minister for Works and Highways, Solan Mirisim.

In an official statement released today, West Sepik Governor Tony Wouwou expressed deep sorrow on behalf of the Provincial Government, Administration, and the people of the province. He described the late Minister as a leader of “integrity, humility, and dedication to his people.”

The late Mirisim, who served both his electorate and the nation with distinction, is remembered for his transformative work in the Works and Highways portfolio. His leadership strengthened infrastructure development across several regions, with long-term benefits expected for many communities.

Governor Wouwou said, "The people of West Sepik Province join the nation in mourning; his loss is deeply felt across the four districts of our province and throughout Papua New Guinea.”

Governor Wouwou extended heartfelt sympathies to the Mirisim family and the people of Telefomin, acknowledging their pain and honoring the life of a man who devoted himself fully to the service of his province and country.

“May the Late Solan Mirisim be remembered for his kindness, his dedication, and the hope he brought to so many. May his soul rest in eternal peace,” the Governor said.

The late Solan Mirisim leaves behind a legacy of leadership defined by humility, vision, and an unwavering commitment to national development.
