Bulolo CEO calls for Presidental Election
Bulolo District has elected new leaders for its four LLGs - Watut, Bulolo Urban, Buang and Mumeng.
However, Bulolo Chief Executive Officer Joseph O’Brian Paru has called on the Morobe Tutumang House of Assembly to push for presidential elections for Morobe Province.
Paru’s statement follows the events that occurred during the LLG elections around the country. He pointed out that, in his district, there were some outside influences from intending candidates of the National General Election for 2027.
Paru has asked concerned authorities to address such matters.
"I am asking any concerned authorities to address whether such an act, where intending candidates are caught in the act of interfering with the LLG elections, can be dealt with?"
"I am urging our Morobe MPs to make sure that we have the people exercise their freedom of choice, voting for their LLG presidents and not councilors."
Paru also urges the LLG leaders to work closely with the District Development Authority.
"Congratulations to the new leaders elected, and my only appeal to them is to work closely with the BDDA for the good of their people, and they mustn't forget their roots if they're given chairmanship in the Tutumang."
Mumeng’s newly elected president is Mark Mathias, Watut has Henry Kontreas, Buang elected Gilimbing Abraham, and Bulolo Urban elected new Mayor Freddy Tommy.
