Madang police launches Sain Abe 3 operation
Madang police have launched Operation Sain Abe 3 in preparation for the festive season.
The operation was launched on Friday by Madang Governor Ramsey Pariwa during a parade at the Madang Town Police Station.
The launch of Sain Abe 3 was initially scheduled to coincide with the decommissioning of the old town police station last Friday; however, the latter was deferred to Friday this week, at the directive of Police Commissioner, David Manning.
According to Provincial Police Commander, Superintendent Robert Baim, Sain Abe 3 will be more intensive than Sain Abe 1 and 2.
Sain Abe 1 and Sain Abe 2 operations took care of the 2023 and 2024 festive seasons, respectively.
"Sain Abe 3 will be a more intensive operation unlike the two previous ones, which were more focused on awareness.
"I don't need to repeat anything anymore. Enough awareness has been made, and it is now enforcement time, and this time, it will be very intensive," PPC Baim said.
He assured Governor Ramsey Pariwa and the people of Madang that police will continue to deliver with or without support.
However, in saying this, Superintendent Baim also acknowledged the continuous support by the Madang Provincial Government, under Pariwa's leadership; towards police work in the province when requested.
Baim stated the ongoing support from the Madang Government has helped immensely in improving the province's crime rate in recent times.
Governor Pariwa presented a K500,000 cheque to PPC Baim on Friday last week to fund the operation Sain Abe 3.
Pariwa, whilst presenting the cheque, reiterated his government's utmost gratitude to all policemen and women in the province for their hard work in maintaining law and order.
He added, "With the little resource and manpower that we have, we can deliver and when God is with us, we can achieve a lot."
The governor also appealed to all Open MPs in Madang Province to assist the province- wide Christmas and New Operation.
"The little district funds that we receive, we must be conscious of how we use to serve people," he said.
Governor Pariwa further extended his appreciation to Correctional Services officers and members of the PNG Defense Force who are also assisting in the operation.
