The AFL PNG development team, led by Jill Ravusiro, has been working closely with the SP PNG Hunters to help improve their overall kicking game and other key football skills.

Over the past few weeks, the AFL PNG coaches have run several training sessions designed to strengthen the basics while also introducing more advanced techniques.

The goal is to make sure the Hunters are well-prepared and confident as they head into the upcoming Hostplus Cup season.

According to AFL PNG representative Jill Ravusiro, the Hunters have shown great commitment throughout their pre-season training.

She explained that the players have been focusing on improving their skills, building fitness, and developing better game awareness.

Ravusiro also shared how the training program was structured over three weeks.

The first week covered the basic skills of kicking and catching, helping players sharpen their foundations.

The second week moved into more detailed technical work, where players refined their accuracy and learned how to apply proper technique under pressure.

By the third week, the sessions shifted to position-specific drills and game-like situations, allowing players to practice using these skills in realistic scenarios.

Ravusiro noted that the players have improved after every session, and both the coaching staff and the team are pleased with the progress.

They are eager to use these new techniques during the season and to share what they have learned with the wider training squad.

Meanwhile, the shared goal is to lift the team’s overall performance and compete at a higher level.
