PNGDF recruitment goes online
The Papua New Guinea Defence Force [PNGDF] has officially transitioned its recruitment process to an online platform, marking a significant shift from traditional hand-delivered applications.
Local human resource firm Labor Solutions has been engaged to manage all recruitment applications through its website, www.laborsolutions.net.
The new platform was launched this morning by Defence Minister, Dr. Billy Joseph, and was witnessed by PNGDF Commander Rear Admiral Philip Polewara and bilateral partners.
Dr Joseph acknowledged longstanding issues with the previous recruitment process, describing it as chaotic and vulnerable to fraud.
“In the past, we’ve had applicants forge signatures and submit certificates that weren’t theirs,” he said. “When I took office, I realized the process lacked transparency. Some individuals who should never have been accepted made it through.”
In response, the Minister convened the Defence Council to develop a more transparent and accountable system.
He's confident the online recruitment platform would help dispel rumors of nepotism and restore credibility to the PNGDF’s selection process.
Dr. Joseph also issued a stern warning to prospective applicants. “The new system is stringent. Any attempt to forge documents or engage in fraudulent activity will be quickly detected and dealt with accordingly.”
Labor Solutions representative Deborah Nanua explained that the website is designed to be user-friendly.
Applicants will complete an online questionnaire and upload required documents, including references.
“The site records your email address, which helps us verify your identity and ensure the integrity of the application,” she said.
Nanua added that all eligibility requirements have been clearly outlined on the site to streamline the selection process for the recruitment team.
The PNGDF Recruitment opens next Monday, interested applicants are encouraged to visit laborsolutions.net to access the application form.
The PNGDF aims to recruit 350 young people in this intake.
Recent Grade 12 school leavers under the age of 25 are especially encouraged to apply.
