Manus students to depart Madang tonight
The 29 UOG students from Manus Province who have been in Madang since Tuesday night are all set to depart Madang tonight onboard the MV Laban Oule.
Since their arrival in Madang on Tuesday night, they have been accommodated at the Paramed campus of Divine Word University.
Student spokesperson Polin Wanzi, an Inservice student who is doing his Bachelors in Guidance and Counselling, tells NBC News this evening that they are happy to be finally going home tonight.
Wanzi says, "We are so thankful to the Speaker of Parliament and our Manus Open MP, Job Pomat, and his support staff for responding promptly to our request to be moved out of UOG."
They also extend their sincere appreciation to the Divine Word University for accommodating them in the last two days and for providing them with the necessary things they needed whilst at Paramed campus.
He further says it is quite unfortunate that they have to leave halfway through their final examinations but are thankful to the university for allowing those of them who haven't completed their exams to do so online.
He adds they are looking forward to returning next year to continue their studies.
