Parents of K.B Primary School in Milne Bay Province have called for the full brunt of the law to be served on 3 Correctional Service officers from Alotau's Giligili Prison after they stormed into the school last Friday morning under the influence of alcohol and proceeded to beat a Grade 7 male student and at least three teachers who had tried to intervene.

The incident last Friday left teachers and students traumatised and the local Division of Education effected an indefinite suspension on school operations, sending over 1000 students home.

Disgruntled parents today urged the Police to fast track investigations and charges, clearly disappointed in the approach of these CS officers and, more so, in holding to ransom every other child in ending the year properly because of this.

This morning, head teacher Sonia Bulegei confirmed she was punched on her arm, and her other two teachers were punched in the face while trying to contain the fury of the mob on a Grade 7 male student. They had to receive treatment at Alotau Provincial Hospital for their injuries.

The incident is understood to have begun a week ago, when the Grade 7 male student, understood to be a little slow in the head, was playing with a Grade 1 student and had tackled them, causing distress; they described it as a form of bullying. The matter was reported to the school, and the parents of both students were asked to meet to resolve the issue.

Parents of the Grade 1 child, both warden officers at CS Giligili, reportedly didn't respond to the request until the blow up on Friday, where they stormed into the Grade 7 classroom, clearly intoxicated, and proceeded to beat the boy, in which case teachers tried to intervene and were themselves harmed.

A complaint was registered this morning with the Police for investigation. At the same time, reports were furnished to the Education Division to deliberate on whether classes will resume, or the matter will be addressed first.

There's but three weeks of classes before the academic year ends and the school was set to hold end of year examinations this week.
