Bilum Digital nationwide rollout underway in Lae
The nationwide rollout of the Bilum Digital Platform training has begun in Lae, Morobe, in a bid to transform local governance through technology.
This year’s rollout is themed “Empowering Subnational Governance Through Digital Transformation and Collaboration.”
The initiative aims to reach all 22 provinces and 96 districts, strengthening local governance and improving service delivery through digital innovation.
Bilum Chairman and Deputy Secretary Gordon Wafimbi told NBC News that the platform is designed to improve data collection, management, and reporting processes across subnational administrations.
“This project is a platform that will enable improved data collection, management, and reporting processes across the subnational administration,” Wafimbi said.
He added that the rollout will enhance real-time monitoring and evaluation of projects and programs at the district and provincial levels.
“By enabling immediate access to project data, the Bilum Digital Platform will support more effective and efficient management of public resources,” he said.
At the completion of the rollout, all provinces and districts will have active user accounts and trained personnel proficient in using the platform for project management, reporting, and budgeting.
This week’s training in Lae covers four districts in Markham, Wau-Waria, Nawaeb, and Lae District, which Mr Wafimbi confirmed are ready to implement the program.
