Suguman reaffirms education commitment

A K150,000 in infrastructure grants have been release to five schools in the North Karkar LLG to improve education services.

Member for Sumkar and Vice Minister for Petroleum, Alexander Suguman Orme, reaffirmed his government’s commitment to improving education with the release of the monies.

The schools include Saint Boniface (Langlang) Primary, Ilu Bangme Primary, Mom Primary, Eastern Kaul Primary, and Suguman VET will receive K30,000 each under the Sumkar Education Restructure Program to upgrade facilities and enhance learning outcomes.

Speaking during the presentation at the Madang Provincial Treasury Office, District Education Inspector Sumgilbar LLG, Warigem Warigem emphasized on accountability and timely delivery of projects urging school boards to ensure every kina benefits students.

" Under the Leadership of local member Orme, education remains top priority. These funds must translate into real and improvements for the children, “he said.

District officials Geofery Talia, among the District Finance Manager, and, Education Inspector praised the initiative, noting that over 80 percent of schools in Sumkar have already received support, with full coverage expected by mid-2026.

The Sumkar Education Project Team will oversee implementation to ensure quality and timely completion.

The initiative forms part of the Sumkar District Development Authority’s ongoing education reforms, aimed at empowering the next generation through improved learning environments.
