Israel’s Deputy Foreign Minister Sharren Haskel is in Papua New Guinea for a two-day official visit to strengthen bilateral relations.

During her courtesy visit to Prime Minister James Marape yesterday, Minister Haskel delivered commendations from Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and said both countries are ready to expand cooperation.

She said with PNG now having an embassy in Jerusalem, the Netanyahu government is keen to deepen partnerships in areas such as science and technology, agriculture, health, business, and women’s empowerment.

Minister Haskel will also meet with several state ministers and officials to discuss these opportunities.

Papua New Guinea and Israel established diplomatic ties in 1978, and Haskel said the long-standing friendship is now entering a “new level of cooperation.”
