Prime Minister James Marape has officially opened the Kainantu Mine’s new Stage 3 Expansion Process Plant, marking a significant development for the project with the start of its first commercial gold production.

During his visit, Prime Minister Marape was given a tour of the new facility by K92 Mining CEO John Lewins and witnessed a gold pour that produced 458 ounces of gold.

The Prime Minister commended K92 Mining Limited for its strong performance, transparency, and partnership with both the Government and the people.

K92 Mining has paid over K500 million in taxes between 2024 and 2025, making a significant contribution to the national treasury.

“Beyond celebrating this milestone, we are excited for the significant long-term benefits that the Stage 3 Expansion will deliver for our employees, communities, and all stakeholders,” he added.
