Miss Bird of Paradise Western Province contestants arrive in Daru

The seven contestants for the inaugural Miss Bird of Paradise Western Province pageant have arrived in Daru yesterday ahead of the crowning night scheduled for Saturday, September 6th.

The contestants were warmly welcomed at the airport by Daru Secondary Waidoro students' cultural group, family members, South Fly District Administrator Wasewa Saepi, and the pageant committees.

Provincial Administrator Robert Alphonse Kaiyun accompanied the contestants on the flight from Port Moresby.

In his welcome remarks Mr. Kaiyun encouraged the contestants to give their best on stage, noting that the winner will represent Western Province in the national Miss Bird of Paradise PNG pageant.

He expressed his excitement about the event stating that this will show case the province beauty and culture to the nation.

Meantime, the contestants will do a public visit around Daru Island on Friday [tomorrow] before the crowning night on Saturday.
