Madang police prepares to launch Independence Operation

Madang police have begun preparations for a special Independence Operation.
The operation is set to start on Monday the 8th of September to ensure a peaceful celebration in the province.
As part of the preparations, the Provincial Police Commander Acting Superintendent Robert Baim has issued a strong warning to the general public in Madang Province to celebrate the 50th Independence Anniversary with pride and ownership.
"We are ready and set to kick start our operations with or without support. It is our responsibility to ensure our 50th Anniversary is celebrated with full meaning of Independence, with respect to our forefathers who have brought us this far, " he said.
Madang Police will not tolerate baby raskols, loud music after 10 pm, disrespectful to another person, all must celebrate peacefully without any hindrance from anyone.
PPC Baim added that anyone trying to undermine the operation will be dealt with severely under the laws.
"If you are thinking of getting drunk and coming into the celebration venue, you will dealt with," Baim stated.
He further stated that police have already identified homebrew factories in and around Madang town, including urban villages, and we will penetrate those spots to ensure there's no production of home brew and illicit substances.
Security for the special Independence celebrations in Madang will be boosted with additional manpower from the local Correctional Service officers.
PPC Baim said, "We will fully utilise our Community Policing Units (CPU) to take ownership of the celebrations. I sincerely thank our good Governor Ransey Pariwa and Madang Provincial Administrator, Daniel Aloi, for their support financially towards the celebrations. I'm also calling on all business houses and stakeholders to support our operations in any way possible to ensure Police presence is felt 24/7. I'm appealing to the good people of Madang to celebrate with pride the true spirit and cultures of Madang and Papua New Guinea."
Acting Superintendent Baim also took time on behalf of his policemen and women to wish all Papua New Guineans a very happy 50th Independence Anniversary Celebrations.
