PM leads National Repentance Day observance in Port Moresby

Prime Minister James Marape joined hundreds of Christian faithful's at Port Moresby's Sir John Guise stadium to observe the National Repentance and Prayer Day.
Chief Secretary to Government Ivan Pomaleu and Minister for Community Development, Youth and Religion, Central Governor Rufina Peter are among those who gathered as early as 5 am in a dawn of prayer, praise, and worship.
General Secretary of the PNG Council of Churches Reverend Roger Joseph says today is not just a declared public holiday.
It is a time to set the hearts right before the nation celebrates 50 years of its Golden Jubilee.
He says, regardless of ethnicity, social status, and denominational background, this important day dedicated to prayer aims to unite the nation.
Prime Minister James Marape urged all citizens to use this day as a time for reflection, renewal, and a reset of the Christian character.
Marape says PNG has always declared its identity as a christian nation.
With the nation's jubilee just a few weeks away, he says the Repentance Day carries even greater significance.
This year's Repentance Day is themed ' Repent, Reconcile and Reset.
