North Bougainville MP delivers over K2 million in Tinputz electoral visit
More than K2 million in cheques, along with a school truck and an ambulance, have been delivered to schools, health facilities, and churches in Tinputz as part of North Bougainville MP Francesca Semoso’s weeklong electoral tour.
Tinputz Day High School, opened in 2021 and now one of 14 high and secondary schools in Bougainville, was among the biggest beneficiaries. The school received its first truck to ease student travel, a supply of library books, and a K100,000 cheque to support the roll-out of the national 1-6-6 education policy.
Principal David Puso said reliable transport would boost confidence and help improve academic performance for the school’s 300-plus students, many of whom walk long distances from villages such as Dios in the northeast and Yokomori in the southeast.
Nearby Tearouki Health Centre also received a major boost, with K1 million in funding and a new ambulance to improve health services.
Every school and church in Tinputz also benefited, with funding allocations ranging between K20,000 and K75,000, including support for the Bougainville Technical College.
In total, more than K3 million will be distributed across the electorate during Semoso’s tour.
Speaking at the handover on Thursday, MP Semoso said her priority is strengthening social services:
“My focus is on building and improving the living standards of our people, and I’m happy the DDA is responsive to these visions,” she said.
The MP’s tour continues along the West Coast this weekend and will conclude in the Atolls on the Carteret Islands this week.
