Churches unite for Jubilee Reset Gospel Festival to mark PNG’s 50th Anniversary

The National Capital District will come alive this weekend as PNG kick starts its officially 50 years’ celebrations with the Jubilee Reset Gospel Music Festival.

The National Events Committee through the Jubilee Reset Gospel Music Festival committee organized the event to thank the church for their contribution in the last 5 decades.

The event begins on Saturday 24th and ends on Sunday 25th at the Sir John Guise Stadium in Port Moresby.

The festival, initiated in partnership with the PNG 50th Committee and churches across denominations, aims to honour God before the official independence celebrations on September 16.

The Jubilee Reset Gospel Music Festival comes ahead of the country’s golden anniversary to say thank you God before the official independence celebrations on September 16.

This including includes the mainline churches of Catholics, Anglican PNG, Evangelical Lutheran Church of PNG, United Church, Salvation Army and other denominations include the Seventh-day Adventist Church and various Pentecostal groups, showcasing how they have contributed to nation-building over the past century.

The festival will also feature exhibitions showcasing how various churches have contributed to nation-building over the past century.

Pastor Peter Bogembo, Chairman of the Festival, said the event is about resilience and unity through worship.

“Even in our struggles and sorrows, we will give God praise. Songs give us hope and strength,” he told the media.

“The church believes this is the time for something powerful to happen. This is to give back to to God first before any celebrations and program, the 50 years’ celebrations honour God."

Deputy Chairman and Bands Camp; Gospel Groups Coordinator Dylan Mallar, confirmed that Nigerian gospel singer Sinach and Solomon Islands’ Scripture Vibration will perform during the event alongside PNG’s own pioneers of gospel music, including P2UIF and Pastor Anthony Ando.

“Security, transport and ticketing measures are in place, with free but ticketed entry. Children under 13 will be allowed in only with a parent or guardian," Dylan said.

This is, more than just a concert, organizers say the Jubilee Reset Festival is a spiritual dedication of PNG’s next 50 years.

"The first 50 years we have lived; the next 50 belong to our children,” Dylan said. “This is our offering as a nation, giving the best to God and stepping into the next chapter together.” Dylan said.

Citizens have been encouraging to attend the two days event, coming together as one family members to celebrate and appreciate the church.
