Tkatchenko vows support for newly elected MKA members

Moresby South MP and Minister for Foreign Affairs, Justin Tkatchenko, has pledged his full support to the newly elected members of the Motu-Koita Assembly, vowing to work closely with them to deliver essential services to local communities.

Speaking at a luncheon held in honour of the Eastern region representatives of the Assembly, Minister Tkatchenko emphasized the importance of collaboration ahead of the next general elections.

He reassured the leaders that his office remains committed to strengthening ties with the Assembly and addressing the pressing needs of Moresby South.

“There’s still a lot of work to do in the electorate,” he said. “We must work together to ensure continued development and effective service delivery.”

The newly elected Motu Koita Assembly members from Eastern region include Mahuru Member Mal Udia, Peter Noka [Pari-Taurama], Turaho Morea [Vabukori], East Motu Koita Women's representative, Gorame Momo, Ovia Nou [Pari Taoata] and Kira Kira Member Babani Harry.

During the meeting, discussions also touched on the proposed creation of a future parliamentary seat for the Motu-Koita people, which is a long-standing issue that continues to gain momentum.

Moresby South is widely regarded as one of the best-performing electorates in the country, with several major infrastructure and community projects completed under Tkatchenko’s leadership.

The Minister’s commitment to inclusive leadership and cooperation with local representatives was welcomed by the Assembly members, setting the tone for a renewed partnership aimed at empowering the indigenous Motu-Koita communities.
