Motu Koita assembly writs returned, new leaders sworn-in

Electoral Commissioner Simon Sinai yesterday formally returned the writs for the 2025 Motu Koita Assembly Elections to the Minister for Provincial and Local Level Government Affairs, Soroi Eoe, marking the official conclusion of a successful election process.
The 17 writs returned included those for the Assembly Chairman, 14 ward councilors, and two women representatives—one each from East and West Motu Koita.
Mr. Sinai said the occasion was significant as it reflected progress for the Motu Koita people.

“This occasion signifies a time that Motu Koita is moving forward.
“Elections are special because they represent a step taken by communities and people in choosing their leaders. That is a sign of people taking ownership and moving ahead," he said.
Minister Soroi Eoe, upon receiving the writs, congratulated the elected members and acknowledged all who participated in the smooth conduct of the elections.
Following the return of writs, members of the 4th Motu Koita Assembly were officially sworn into office to begin serving their respective constituencies.
