The people of the West Coast of mainland Bougainville are beginning to see long awaited progress, marked by the official opening of the first bridge on the Siara-Korepovi road.

Constructed at a cost of K3.3 million by Raibro Construction Limited, the bridge now connects the Selau constituency with the Mahari and Teua constituencies.

The Siara-Korepovi road, which has remained neglected since the aftermath of the Bougainville conflict, is finally seeing transformation.

On Friday, 25th July, Minister for Works Solan Mirisim, and the Regional Member and Minister for Police Peter Tsiamalili Jr, officially opened the bridge.

Mr Tsiamalili Jr says he will continue to bring development along the Siara-Korepovi road and its bridges, noting that the people of the West Coast, many of whom are farmers, have long struggled to transport their produce to markets in Buka and Kokopau.

The Regional Member thanked the youth for their cooperation in safeguarding the road and bridge works, as well as to the contractor, Raibro Construction.

He reminded the people again that the funding used to construct the bridge and the road is the people’s money.

The Mo’ve Bridge is the first along the Siara-Korepovi road that links, Mahari, Teua and the newly created Keriaka Constituency in the Kunua District in West Coast Bougainville.
