Alleged glitch in IRC not investigated: Ling-Stuckey

The Government through the Treasury Department did not conduct any investigation into the alleged "glitches" at the Internal Revenue Commission.

Treasurer Ian Ling-Stuckey says this is because Treasury is of the opinion that the IRC has the appropriate capacity to deal with such matters.

He explained that around mid-February this year, there was a ransomware attack on the IRC's virtual servers, and in response, it activated its cybersecurity protocols, engaging experts, KPMG, to contain the problem and restore the system.

He says, the Australian Government also offered its assistance through its cybercrime rapid response team.
