PNG's second fastest men in the 100 metres Emmanuel Anis is gearing up to represent Team PNG at the Pacific Mini Games in Palau [July 29-July 9th].

With a personal best of 10.38 seconds, the student-athlete who recently graduated with a Diploma in Business Management in New Mexico [USA] has been doing the hard yards in the States, juggling his time between the lecture rooms and the tracks.

Anis was named in the Athletics 30-member squad for the Pacific Mini Games early this year, and just like his team mates, he is honored to represent his country again.

"Its always a privilege to make the team and represent PNG. It's special having to be named in Team PNG for four consecutive years," Anis said.

"When I represent PNG, I am not just running for myself but for my country, my family back home and the people that put effort into my career as a student-athlete."

Having won a bronze medal in the 2022 Pacific Mini Games in Palau, a gold medal at the 2023 Pacific Games and another gold in the Oceania Championships in Fiji last year, Anis is eyeing another medal for team PNG at the Pacific Mini Games.

Apart from the medals, Anis also mentioned that he is eyeing the national record in the 100 metres which was recently set by his team mate Pais Wisil (10.24 seconds) in Match at the Queensland State trials.

"My other goal at the Pacific Mini Games is short and simple, and that is to break the 100m men's national record," he added.

"Pais is my team mate and I respect him but the 100m PNG record is not safe because I am coming for it."

Anis is currently in Kansas and plans to fly back home in June to do final preparations under Coach Nelson Stone before departing for Palau.
