Middle Ramu District Development Authority is continuing to deliver very basic goods and services to the people.

On Wednesday this week, Middle Ramu DDA delivered a hundred sewing machines, 20 rice milling machines, six motorized dinghies, and 40 coffee machines or pulpers to help its people improve their livelihoods.

Local MP, Kansol Harwai Kamdaru, presented the machines, which had cost in total K292, 799. 28; to his constituents at the Madang Provincial Administration headquarters.

He said, "I will continue to deliver services according to my campaign promise, which is 'mi mas bringim lait igo insait lo Middle Ramu'. Displa mi bai mekim kamap na mi nonap lusim."

Mr Kamdaru urged his people to make use of the goods and services his DDA is delivering in order to see some changes in their livelihoods.

He also said that in the soon to be three years that he has been their member, he has worked hard to deliver what he can, including starting work on the Madang/ Baiyer Road.

Middle Ramu District is one of three hard- to- reach districts in Madang Province. It is tucked in between Western Highlands, Jiwaka, East Sepik, and Enga provinces.

Connecting the district by road is difficult, however, this has not stopped him from pushing the project through. Work on the road started last year on both the Western Highlands and Madang sides. From the Western Highlands side, construction work is almost reaching the border of Baiyer and Middle Ramu, with forty kilometers remaining to reach Simbai.

According to Mr Kamdaru, the construction team should reach Simbai before September 16.

The first time MP further stated that Middle Ramu is faced with a lot of development challenges, and getting the district connected by road will greatly help in addressing them.

Meanwhile, work on the first bridge on the Western Highlands side is expected to start anytime. This will be a Bailey bridge across the Jimi River.

The Minister for Works and Highways, Solan Mirisim, recently visited the construction site and was impressed with the progress of work on the road.
