Hospital scales down operations in Wewak

The inconsistency in the supply of power and water in East Sepik's Provincial Capital Wewak has now forced the East Sepik Provincial Hospital in Wewak to scale down on all its operations.
The circular issued by the CEO of ESPHA Mathew Kaluvia today says the hospital operations have been totally compromised with the inconsistent power and water supply.
"This issue is now becoming chronic and has severely affected all the services provided in this hospital.
For the interest of the public and occupational health and safety, the services at the hospital are scaled down to emergency services only while communication is ongoing to restore services as soon as possible," Mr Kaluvia said.
In the meantime, the general public has been advised to remain vigilant and avoid unnecessary risk, especially at this time.
The entire township of Wewak has been without a consistent power and water supply for almost a month.
Similarly, Madang's Modilon Hospital last week also scaled down its operations due to the inconsistency of water supply to the whole facility.
