This year’s edition features four competitive franchises in Mudmen, Cassowaries, Mariners, and Black Bass, with the tournament serving as a crucial platform for both elite and emerging cricketers aiming to earn selection for the PNG national team, the Barramundis.

In the tournament opener, the Cassowaries edged out the Mariners in a tense contest, claiming a 2-wicket victory. After winning the toss and opting to bowl, the Cassowaries restricted the Mariners to 101/7 in their 20 overs.

The afternoon match saw Black Bass dominate the Mudmen with a commanding 7-wicket win. The Mudmen batted first and posted 114/8, but Black Bass chased the target comfortably in 17.3 overs.

The chase was led by a brilliant unbeaten 70 from captain Sese Bau, a key member of the Barramundis’ top order, who was named Player of the Match for his efforts.
