Patient safety, medical negligence case of concern

Patient safety and medical negligence have become increasing causes of concern for the health sector in the country.
Health Minister Elias Kapavore told the newly sworn in Medical Board, that patients have rights and that is to be treated whatever their circumstances.
He cited reports received of growing cases of medical negligence - reminding the board of their key role of oversight ensuring this is does not happen:
The Health Minister issued a strong warning to health professionals, using mobile phones during working hours, when they should be attending to patients.
He says patients are very important people or VIPS, and as health professionals - they should be treated as such.
Kapavore called on provincial health authorities and CEOS to have a system to monitor such behaviors by their officers.
While acknowledging that the provision of health care continues to be a challenge, health professionals swear an oath to save lives, and that must be upheld always.
