Writs for Central Bougainville by-elections issued

The Writs for the Central Bougainville by-elections were issued this afternoon at Government House.

Deputy Electoral Commissioner Corporate Services John Kalamoroh when presenting the writ before the Governor General Sir Bob Dadae said the seat was left vacant after the passing of Fr Simon Dumarinu.

Mr Kalamoroh says the nomination is open till the 15th of this month.

"On the ground, we have a Returning Officer and Assistant Returning Officers to facilitate the process.

"27th of June, writs will be returned," Mr. Kalamoroh said.

He said the National Government has allocated K90m for elections.

"K20m was specifically for the by-elections. K45m going for LLG elections including Motu-Koita and ABG elections.

"K25m yet to come in but we are hopeful they will make funding available soon as the government is fully aware of it."
