NPL announced as new naming rights sponsor for Enga Mioks

New Porgera Limited [NPL] is now the new naming rights sponsor of the Enga Mioks Rugby Football League Club [RFLC] franchise in the 2025 Digicel ExxonMobil Cup.

The announcement was made at the Kopen National School of Excellence in Wabag recently.

NPL Country Manager Karo Maha said the company's commitment to supporting sport in Enga Province, with this announcement coinciding with NPL’s support to the Coca Cola Ipatas Cup – the province’s premier grassroots rugby league tournament.

He said the partnership will see NPL Enga Mioks receive K1,204,200, and the Coca Cola Ipatas Cup K204,200 respectively for the 2025 season.

“With the backing of Kumul Minerals Holdings Limited [KMHL], we are committed to promoting the Barrick value of ‘one team, one mission’, on and off the field of play, for continued success," Mr. Maha said.

Mr. Maha said NPLs workforce is 97% Papua New Guinean with over 50% being Engan [including Porgerans] and they remain committed.

"As an important development partner for Enga, we are pleased to support rugby league through the NPL Enga Mioks, as well as our support towards the ever-popular Ipatas Cup.

"This partnership is sure to deliver positive results for all stakeholders, now and into the future. We encourage all supporters of rugby league to get behind the NPL Enga Mioks,”he said.

Enga Governor Chief Sir Peter Ipatas commended NPL and its shareholders, saying this support demonstrated NPL’s commitment to sporting excellence, as well as grassroots rugby league development in Enga province.

“Sport is a uniting factor in our communities, and we thank NPL for recognizing this.

"The Enga Provincial Government welcomes NPL’s commitment, with the new-look NPL Enga Mioks carrying the mantle of the province in the country’s premier rugby league competition. The Mioks have been one of the two only clubs that have consistency played in the cup since its inception.

"We thank NPL for committing to being part of one of the most successful rugby league franchises in the country and look forward to producing positive results in this year’s competition,” Sir Peter said.
