Former Kumul wanted by police in connection to alleged rape case

Police in the National Capital District [NCD] are searching for former PNG Kumuls rugby league player Garry Lo in connection with an alleged sexual assault incident that occurred over the weekend in Hohola, Port Moresby.

According to initial police reports, a young woman was allegedly assaulted and raped by a man with whom she had a brief relationship.

The primary suspect, Mckenzie Mura, 30, from Kela Wagi village in Hagen Central, Western Highlands Province, was apprehended by police on the same day of the alleged incident. He has since been charged and remanded at Bomana Correctional Service.

Police allege that Mura was accompanied by the former Kumul player at the time of the incident, and both men were reportedly with the victim when the crime took place.

While Mura is now in custody, Mr Lo has not yet come forward. Police are urging the public to assist with any information regarding his whereabouts to help ensure justice is served for the victim and her family.
